Kids Activities

Wow, I never knew keeping my kids active would be so time consuming! Olivia is in dance and plays basket ball. Cooper is playing basket ball too, but finished playing t-ball over the summer. Both want to do soccer when it starts in March. Whew! But I would much rather play taxi than let them sit at home all the time. And since I love sports, I'm glad to see that my kids do too.

But it sure makes for one tired Mommy and Daddy!

Sissy on his team

Cooper told me after his first basketball practice that "there is a girl named Sissy on my team!" *insert high, excited voice here*

Cooper thought that was coolest thing and he told Al and I SEVERAL times about the "infamous" Sissy on his team.....which I thought was kind of odd, I mean, how many people do you know named Sissy? But, I went along with it. WELL....at his first game, they announce all the players. Guess what? Sissy is NOT the little girl's name on his team - her name is OLIVIA.

How funny is that? I almost died laughing when I realized what he meant the whole time. He will *NOT* call Olivia by her name - he calls her Sissy. And if you ask him her full name, he'll say her name is Sissy Grace Griggs. :) So I guess at this point he thinks anyone named Olivia is also known as Sissy.

I sure hope he hasn't been calling the poor little girl Sissy this whole time! :) Oh how I love that boy.

Report Card

Olivia got her report card today and she made A's and B's!!! Yay!!! Al and I are so proud of our little girl! She struggled with handwriting - she made a C last time (which I thought was totally ridiculous considering she just LEARNED to write!) but she's been working on it really hard and brought it up to a B. I haven't agreed with everything O's teachers have said or told me, but Al and I have been working really hard with O to get some things improved. I feel like I'm on the moon! :) Great job O!

Cooper doesn't get a report card since he's only in 4K - but his teacher told me the other week that she can see a big improvement in Coop and could tell that we had been working with him at home. Cooper is just as smart as his big sister, he just has a little harder time focusing. I am proud of my little guy's improvements. You've come a long way Little Man! :)

Upward Basketball

Both kids are playing Upward Basketball this year. I have to say, Olivia LOVED it! I was very impressed with how much she participated in the game. She wasn't crazy about being "covered" by another girl, but she had a ton of fun. Cooper had a good time too - but he mostly ran up and down the court without really knowing what was going on! Upward is a great program so I encourage anyone that has any Upward sports near them, to get their kids involved!

Cooper playing in his first basketball game.

Hey Coop!

Olivia did really well at drippling.....but she is really great at passing.

Starting her first game.

Basketball seems to be a hit for now - which is good. The coaches give out "stars" for different things after each game. Olivia got a white star after the game for being "Christ-like" since she helped a player up when she fell down. My sweet girl! Cooper got a green star for trying to learn his memory verse. It's a lot of fun, can't wait until next week. :)

Resolutions....

Normally I don't do resolutions...I never really keep up with them anyways. But I've been reading some of my friends on Facebook and on other blogs and it got me thinking....Is it so bad to have some New Year resolutions? Here's my list:

1. I started WW (Weight Watchers for all you skinny people) as of 1/1/10. So, at this point I'm on day three. Still as tough as it the first day. Al is doing it with me though so that is helping a ton. He's very encouraging and I'm "known" for cheating if given a chance. :)

2. Al and I joined the gym last summer and have done really well with going and working out. I started running - or jogging - or walking really, really fast - whatever you want to call it - until I pulled a muscle in my side. THEN the holidays came up and I haven't been to the gym in 3 weeks! YIKES!!! So, I do plan on getting back into *that* routine and get back at my running/givingmyselfaheartattack so that I can run a full mile soon. That's my ultimate goal - a whole mile of running where I don't have to stop and gasp for air.

3. I need more patience w/the kids....there are days they can drive me absolutely CRAZY. I need to remind myself that they are just kids and not let stupid, petty things annoy me. Those two mean, wild monkeys are my two greatest accomplishments. Plus, I want them to get older and tell their friends "Hey, my mom is *COOL*" - is that bad? :)

I think three is enough don't you? Chances are, only one of these three will actually make it! LOL

Welcome 2010!

Happy New Year! 2009 was a great year for our little family, so I am looking forward to this year. :) We decided to spend New Year's day with the kids at the zoo. Michele and her boys came along and we had a blast. It was actually a pretty dreary day so the zoo was not busy at all. I purposely didn't take my camera so that I would be forced to actually LOOK at everything myself too. I get caught up in taking pictures most of the time that I miss things. I did snap a few pictures on my cell phone though.....sorry, I couldn't resist and the kids were sssssoo willing to get their pictures taken. :)

O, Cooper, and Chandler

Funny story - Olivia really enjoyed feeding the birds last time we were at the zoo so we decided to do it again. WELL....since the zoo was so deserted, I guess the birds had not been feed much. As soon as we walked in with our nectar, they swarmed us - it was seriously like a scene from "The Birds" or something! Two little birds landed on O's head....which totally freaked her out! She screamed "I'm done!", *threw* her nectar to the ground, and took off for the exit with Hunter. It was too funny. Cooper LOVED the birds but they wouldn't touch him (he wasn't allowed to hold the nectare, they could have probably carried him away or something!)....which makes you wonder if they could sense "mean." Ha ha. Chandler wouldn't even go into the bird enclosure....funny how the smartest one in the bunch was a 4 year old! LOL
