Aced it Man!!!!

Have I mentioned lately that my daughter is super smart? :) She met with her teacher, Mrs. Chure (rhymes with Horray) at Thomas Hart yesterday and did so well! Mrs. Chure said she handed Olivia a square piece of paper and asked her to make a triangle and Olivia rolled it up and said, "No, I made it into a telescope!" She was *very* impressed that Olivia knew that word AND what it looked like. What can I say? She gets it from me! Ha ha! Seriously though, I really think Olivia is going to be so happy at this school and I'm so thankful now that she ended up signed up there and not "the other place." She aced her little interview and "test" with her teacher. I was very, very proud of my Baby Girl. :)

Oh, and I thought I would attach a picture of Cooper looking like a monkey - he was climbing on top of the laundry basket and then standing up. THAT I can handle, but you should see him climbing up on the bar stool AND then from there to his highchair. I nearly had a heart attack seeing him do that yesterday. He has NO FEAR!!!!!

Is my long weekend here yet???

Dancing the Night Away

Wow, it's been a crazy week! I'm so glad things are getting back to normal. Anyways, the kids have been doing great! Olivia had her dance recital on Saturday and she was the star of the show (of course!). Her group performed twice - one tap routine and one ballet routine. After the tap routine, Mrs. Brenda let them introduce themselves and Olivia was first. She said "Hey, my name is Olivia" so fast I'm not sure many people could even understand her! Ha ha! She is such a stinker. I do have to admit I'm glad dancing is over for awhile. Now, I don't have to rush home every Monday night for awhile. :)

Oh, and Al and I bought Cooper a toddler bed over the weekend. We saw one of those blue corvette toddler beds at a yard sale for $50 so we snatched it up. He's done pretty well with sleeping in it. The first night he fell asleep on the floor in front of his door and Al had to pick him up and carry him to bed. Before long, my little man won't be my little baby boy anymore. *sniffle* Now we just have to work on that pistol!

And Olivia goes to meet her teacher at Thomas Hart tomorrow. She's really excited and so am I! I really think she's going to feel comfortable with this lady because she has a very easy going personality and seems to be accepting that kids will be kids. So, I think Olivia will respond really well to her. We'll find out tomorrow though! I can't believe she's getting ready to start school in August. Ok, I'm going to seriously cry now! Ha ha! You do know she'll be the smartest 4 year old in her class right? :)

That's all for now!

It's like baby crack man!

He's addicted to that thing in his mouth!

Cooper LOVES his paci - I mean, LOVES it. He's probably the worst of the two on breaking this habit. Olivia was a breeze, but Cooper....well, Cooper has a bad dependency on the "paci." Al and I are trying very hard to wean him and now we've gotten to where he only has it at nap time and bed time. However, Cooper hasn't feel well the last few days and when he feels bad, he needs some extra "comfort" so to speak. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to give in and hand him the paci (and I won't tell my husband how many times I have!) over the last few days. I can totally understand why it's so hard for people with other dependencies to break their habits. Poor little Coop is having a tough time. And he's showing the classic symptoms of withdrawl - not sleeping well, crying a lot, being super whiny, and clingy. I know Al and I have to stay firm, but man.....it's torture!

Oh, and Al took Olivia to practice for her recital and of course my child would DO NOTHING. She did that last year though and still ended up haming it up at the show. I can almost bet she'll do the same this year!

Mother's Day and Dedication

I had a pretty good Mother's Day. The kids (and Al) got me a Weight Watchers cookbook which is exactly what I asked for. How sweet! Now I have *no excuse* not to loose some weight huh? Ha!

At church yesterday the kids got dedicated. It wasn't anything fancy, but I feel good knowing we decided to do that. My nephew Louis was dedicated as well.

Anyways, not much to report - Olivia's dance recital is on Saturday so she's getting super excited about that. I can't believe it's time for that already. She's going to be so stinking cute, it won't be funny! :)

Later!

Diaper Sissy

You know Olivia wants to be Cooper's "little Mama" right? Man, she is all into that job! She tries to feed him, bath him, spanks him, and now - even tries to change his diapers! You always know my children are up to no good when it gets eerily quiet in our house. On Saturday, we had one of those moments! Ha!
Al and I caught Olivia with Cooper in his room trying to change his diaper. She had him layed out on the floor and was doing her best to get it off (she doesn't understand that shorts have to come off first). And she finally succeeded! It must have taken her forever and she never could get the new diaper under Coop's rear to put on him. Finally Al helped her and she was so proud of herself. One diaper change = 10 minutes. Ha ha! But Cooper just layed there and let Sissy try. Maybe I should let her continue to practice so she can take over that job for me? That would be nice! Ok, so I don't see that happening anytime soon......bummer!
Anyways, the pics are of the kids on the lawn mower. Olivia used to be scared of it but since Cooper isn't - she's not anymore. Monkey see....monkey do! :)

The Stinking Doodlebops!

I hate the Doodlebops - especially that blue freak, Rooney! If your kid watches the Disney channel, you know who I'm talking about. Olivia and Cooper LOVE them so Nana bought them a DVD of them to watch in the car.

In one of the episodes Rooney is asking all kinds of questions - really getting on everyone's nerves. Kind of like a certain 4 year old I know that will remain nameless but you all know who I'm talking about! Ha! Anyways, at the end of the episode Rooney tells the kids "hey, questions are good, so ask away!" Hence the reason I hate him.....

Olivia will ask you 100 million billion (if there is such a number) questions from the minute she wakes up to the minute she falls asleep. The kid never stops talking. And now, since watching this show, she thinks it's even more ok for her to ask, ask, ask. If I dare tell her I've had enough of questions, she'll calmly say "But Mommy, Rooney said questions were good." - UGH!!!

Why can't my kids watch something on tv that teaches them manners and how to behave when out? Ha ha! Stinking Doodlebops......

Freaking me out

Olivia's new thing is to ask about death - or dieing - or killing - or anything that results in one being buried in the ground. Honestly, after the conversation I had with her on Sunday, she's starting to FREAK ME OUT!!!!

Here the story:
Olivia: Mommy! I'm the new teacher Ms. Linda (don't ask, I don't know?)
Me: Hello Ms. Linda
Olivia: I'm taking over at daycare because Ms. Judy, Mrs. Dawn, Baby Allison (Dawn's youngest daughter) and Ms. Ada are all dead.
Me: Dead? No....they aren't dead. They are on vacation.
Olivia: Fine...they are on vacation......(long pause, stare)....DEAD.
Me: NO! Let's not play they are dead, they are on vacation.
Olivia: *sigh* Fine, but they killed themselves on vacation.
Me: What? No, how do you know about killing themselves?
Olivia: They shot themselves with a gun and died.
Me: Ok, I'm done playing this game....
Olivia: It's just pretend Mommy - DUH!

I immediately called Nana and she assures me that it's a normal phase and that Olivia is just at the age where she notices this stuff now. Maybe I should have talked to her about death and stuff more but I honestly don't see the point. She's only 4 - why should I throw that in her head? Maybe I'm just being weird. :) Nah! But she is freaking me out a little!

Picking Scraw-Berries

Olivia has been asking me for the longest time to take her to pick some "scrawberries" so Al and I finally took the kids up to McLeod Farms in McBee over the weekend. It was really fun! We got to ride the golf cart down to where they wanted us to pick - which Cooper HATED....for whatever reason my baby is terrified of golf carts. Then when we jumped down, Olivia picked a few scrawberries and announced she was done. Wait, her exact words were "I'm tired, my hands hurt, you pick the scrawberries Mommy." So guess who got to pick all the strawberries? Yeap me! Al didn't even get his butt off the golf cart. What a slacker! Cooper ate as many as he picked which I thought was cute.

We got some really pretty strawberries though. When we got back to the store, we paid for them and then got some strawberry ice cream for Ms. Griggs and Cooper and I got some peach cobbler. It was yummy! Not good on a diet, but I think Coop ate most of it anyways. I do think we'll go back in a few weeks and let the kids have at it again. Oh, and I took some pics so I'll try to have those posted. Well, Al took the pics since his slack self was just sitting there!

Husband

My daughter is the funniest kid on the planet. On the way to school this morning we had this conversation....

O: Mommy?
Me: Yes love of my life.
O: I want a husband!
Me: What? You don't want a husband.
O: Yes I do! I want a husband!
Me: You're too young for a husband, you can have one when you're 35.
O: Awwww.....

Don't ask, I haven't a clue! She'll also tell me sometimes that she wanted to come our wedding and I laugh because - heck, she was there! Ha ha!

Just some pictures....

If you don't know by now, I am a picture addict. I take tons of pictures of my babies. Some turn out extremely cute (ok, almost ALL of them) and some don't. :) These are some that I took over Easter weekend. Easter was so cold this year and it didn't really even feel like Easter at all. But the kids still had a lot of fun hunting eggs at church. I really like the picture of me and Cooper - now you know why I keep saying he's not my kid! He's as blonde and blue eyed as they come! :) Too bad he inherited Al's HORRIBLE cowlick right in the middle of his hair. We're going to have a hard time with his hair as it grows.
Anyways, just thought I would share some pics!

What was I thinking?

I have no idea what I was thinking over the weekend. On Friday night, Cooper woke us up screaming crying. I mean, you would have thought a dingo was after him or something (A Dingo ate my baby!!!!). When Al got in the bedroom, Cooper wasn't in his crib! Somehow he had gotten out of his crib, climbed under it, and then totally FREAKED out.

Background story : one side of Cooper's crib keeps coming loose if you push on it hard enough - we keep messing with it and thinking we have it fixed, but after a few days, Cooper messes it up again. SSSSOOO, with that being said, Al and I assumed he had pushed on the side of the crib and climbed out. So, here's when I have my *brilliant* idea - let's just take the side of the crib down, put up the side rail for the toddler bed and see how he does. Now does that sound like a really bad idea looking back or what? Ha! Well, the little stinker tricked us! Saturday night went pretty darn well....he might have cried a few times but that was it. Sunday morning I thought I was a genius! WWWEEELLLL......Sunday night was a completely different story. Cooper went to bed like normal with no problems until about 11pm. Then all HADES broke loose!

Cooper was up and down, up and down, up and down, cried, cried, cried and wanted to be held and rocked. Finally close to 1am, we decided to just put the side of the crib back up and put him to bed. I guess my little man wasn't ready for a toddler bed after all. And I have to admit, I am kind of glad because I was so sad looking into his room and not seeing the crib set up. He's growing so fast that it hurts my heart. And don't get me started on Olivia. I tear up just thinking about her starting school soon!

Anyways, I'm done with brilliant ideas for awhile! We're leaving Cooper where he is for a little while longer. :)

New word

Cooper has a new word he can say - and he says it ALL the time now. It's NO.
"Cooper, you want something to eat?" NO
"Cooper, are you thirsty?" NO
"Cooper, do you love Mommy?" NO NO NO!
Ugh! I want Coop to talk more, but he's stuck on this word. I'm sure it's just a phase and apparently he hears it all day, every day at daycare and that's why he's so hooked on it. *sigh* I just have to be patient I guess. It is really cute how he says the word though...he's got this cute little high pitched voice that says "nnnnaaaawwww" - it's funny.
Oh, and the word MINE is a close, close second!

They are slowly killing me.....

That's right - Cooper NOT Olivia is going to be the death of me! I promise you, that little boy is rougher and into more stuff than Olivia Grace ever dared to be! Ok, so you want to know why Cooper Thomas Griggs is going to give me a heart attack right? Well, he's learned to climb. And I mean, he is a *PRO* at it - there is nothing my little 19 month old, 26 pound toddler can't get into. So, last night he climbed up on my bed like he does all the time. No big deal right? I walk over to my closet and for whatever reason - Divine Intervention maybe - I looked over just in time to see Cooper falling head first off the bed after a stinking pretzel that fell. I lunged for him but didn't catch him in time. He hit his poor little head! He cried - I almost cried - and after a few minutes, he was fine. I swear, if I were a cat, I would have lost about 4 lives right at that moment. Ha!

And don't think Olivia Grace is innocent in contributing to slowly driving Mommy crazy and killing her! If I have to hear "tell me a story about it" one more time, I'm going to go POSTAL!!!! Ha! Olivia wants to hear a story about everything - why the grass is green, why Ariel's Daddy has long hair, why she has to go to big kid school, etc. You name it, she wants a story for it. And don't ask *her* to tell *you* a story, because as I found out this morning...."I don't know how to tell stories." Yeah right!

They are out to get me I tell you!

Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter!!!
I took these pictures of the kids myself. I don't think they came out too shabby do you? :) I was really, really pleased with them. I can't believe how grown up they are getting! Al is home with them today and they have been outside playing and having a good time. Which is a big difference from yesterday when I was home with Cooper since he was sick. Anyways, I know this is short and boring but I'm getting ready to leave work and it's FRIDAY!!!!!!
I promise to have a funnier blog on Monday!

Party at Chuck E Cheese

Olivia had her birthday party at Chuck E Cheese's on Saturday. I have to say, I was really expecting it to be chaotic and nerve racking and it totally wasn't! The waitress kept us with us and would periodically remind me when to go get the kids to eat, have cake, dance with Chuck E. and open gifts. Then after the party, you could stay and finish playing for as long as you wanted. I think we were the last of the Griggs party to leave to be honest! Olivia had so much fun and Cooper did too. Al and I may reserve Cooper a party there when he gets a little older.
The last picture is of "The Girls" - Olivia, Gracie, and Lauren. They run the daycare they go to! Ha ha! It's just too sweet. Can you believe my little girl is going to be FOUR on Wednesday? Wow, where did the time go!

And the award goes to.....

Louis Bryson Griggs!!!! in "Cutest Nephew In the World"
Isn't he just too cute? He has definitely won over his Aunt Mandy and Uncle Al's hearts! :)
Al and I have decided to put Olivia in Thomas Hart. I am tired of waiting for Emmanuel to make a decision so to heck with them. (I only wish Jennifer and Mrs. Charles were blog readers!) I'm sure it's a great school, I won't deny that BUT I think they are very biased in their selection process so we'll just go elsewhere. I called Thomas Hart today and we will go on a tour tomorrow and can sign her up then. AND once you sign up, you are guaranteed a spot. So, I'm actually much happier about this - I mean, not only is it cheaper than ECS, but it's a lot closer to my house. So, I'm happy. :)

The First Born Reigns Supreme and Sappy Stuff

Cooper LOVES taking baths - actually both the kids do. Olivia will ask you at 3pm to give her a bath. She doesn't care what time it is, as long as she can get in. And Cooper wants to get in the tub *right* time he gets home from daycare. No eating first Mommy....I want a bath NOW! So, I usually kill two birds with one stone and throw them in the tub together. It's worked really well so far (except for the occasionally "why does Cooper have a wee wee comment" from Olivia) until last night. Cooper will probably NEVER get back in the tub now.

Little background story....Al and I bought a new tub for our house the year after we moved in. We even splurged a little and got a jacuzzi tub. We love it....I don't use it as much as I use too but that's because my tub has been taken over by two little monsters. So anyways....

Back to last night. Somewhere in the mist of them playing and me trying to wash the 4 layers of dirt off Cooper's little body, Olivia hit the button to make the jacuzzi come on. Water shot up everywhere, it made a loud noise and shot poor little Cooper right in the head from two different directions. The poor kid climbed UP my shirt and had us both soaking wet. He cried and clung to me like a wet, little monkey. Olivia just sat there and coolly said "Sorry, it was an accident. No spankings Mommy." Hmmmm.....was it really an accident or is this part of Olivia's plan to get her own bath time back? I'm sensing a Bad Seed vibe from her. Ha ha! I put Cooper back in the tub to try to show him there was no reason to be scared but he just cried. So, I took him out. Mean, mean little girl! Olivia - 450246450 Cooper - 2.

Anyways, after the excitement had died down, Al and I dressed the kids and got them ready for bed. I have to admit, I have the same routine every night before I go to bed. I creep into Olivia's room and make sure she's covered up and kiss her goodnight and whisper "I love you to the moon and back" and then I just look at her. I do the same thing with Cooper. Sometimes I catch myself tearing up looking at their beautiful little faces because I can't believe they are mine. Really mine. I know I'm a mom, but shoot, sometimes I still don't feel like it and still don't feel like I'm *worthy* of having two great kids. I still feel like I'm learning and God knows I make mistakes with them. I feel so blessed and I thank God everyday for them. I don't know what I did to deserve them. I must be doing something right since I'm Olivia Grace's best friend huh? Anyways, that's me being sappy.....

Wow, I wrote a novel today.....

Monday, March 26, 2007

Nothing...

I have nothing.....can you believe that? I have nothing really funny to write about that my kids did over the weekend.....boo on me! I did take a short video of Cooper on the Dora 4 wheeler but I don't think I can post it on here. Bummer.

Anyways, I weighed today and I'm down 4 pounds from last monday! Woo Hoo! That gives me a total of NINE pounds in the first 3 weeks on Weight Watchers. Al is opting for weighing tonight so I'll post tomorrow and let you know how much he's down.

Oh, and the girl that LIES at Emmanuel still hasn't called me back.

Friday, March 23, 2007

Liar, Liar...

PANTS ON FIRE!!! That chick from Emmanuel *never* called me back!

And she works for a Christian school...she should be ashamed of herself!

Forgot something....

I knew there was something I wanted to blog about but kept forgetting! Olivia managed to con (although it's really not *that* hard) Nanny into buying her two "twin" babies the other week from Target. They are really cute but guess what Olivia named them?

Thelma and Louise!

How stinking funny is that? Of course, she doesn't know why everyone thinks that's funny, but I had to laugh when she told me their names. She is too much sometimes. Oh, and I called Emmanuel to ask if Olivia had been accepted. I think I royally offended the girl that answered the phone because I called not once, but twice. But come on, she first tells me she's sending out letters and I'll know something in 2 weeks? Well hey, that's not really fair because if you reject my kid, I want to be able to get her into another pre-school program. So, we had a little "disagreement" about that and she's promised to call me back. Of course I haven't heard a darn thing from her. And I probably won't. GGGRRRRR

I just hope that Olivia's name wasn't on the "accepted" list and got moved to the "rejected" side because I called and asked if there was any way they could let me ASAP. Oh well! I'm beginning to really not like this school!

Suspense is killing me!!!!!

When is Emmanuel going to let me know if Olivia has been accepted or not? They are KILLING me! Everyday I run (ok, so that's an exaggeration) anxiously to the mailbox in hopes that I'll see the E letterhead, but *nothing*. You have no idea how bad I want to call up that lady and say "look, just be straight up with me here and tell me if you want her or not!" - ha! I have faith that she'll get in....no news is good news right?
Oh, Week 2 of Weight Watchers went well. I lost another two pounds and Al lost six. *eye roll* Again, I'm happy for my hubby, but COME ON!!!! I've lost 5 stinking pounds to his 14....it's just not fair. I'm just going to have to get lipo. :)
Aaaannnnndddd....Cooper is doing really well with only have his paci at nap and bed time. I'm hoping to 1. break him of this habit and 2. get him talking more by keeping it out of his mouth. Have I mentioned that my 18 month old son is addicted to Spongebob? Now that's a word he can say clear enough. Too cute right? Yeah, until he goes to the doctor and I have to him that's the *only* word he says....ha ha!

Friday, March 16, 2007

The words of the day are.....

IMPRESSIVE and SURE. Here's each used in a sentence by our very own Olivia Grace.

O: "Mommy, that was IMPRESSIVE that she gave me chocolate candy."
and
Me: "Olivia, do you want some chicken nuggets?"
O: "SURE."
This word of the day may be used after EVERY single question you ask your soon to be 4 year old. It replaces the normal "yes, yes ma'am, yeah," etc.

Where does my kid learn this vocabulary? I mean, wasn't it just the other day that I was commenting on her usage of the word "actually"? And when is Cooper going to pick up on this stuff? I know I shouldn't compare kids, but man, Olivia was talking up a storm at his age. Oh well, he's my sweet little man. I guess he doesn't need to talk when all he has to do is point and grunt for whatever he wants huh? Although, Cooper can say ball, hey, bye bye, uh oh, blue....and that's all I can think of for now. I'm sure there are more and I'm just forgetting them.

Oh, and as I am typing this, Olivia came in asking for her play plastic scissors so she can "cut Poppy's hair". For those of you who don't my dad (aka Poppy), he's BALD. Ha ha!

Wednesday, March 14, 2007

Yay for us!!!

So, Al and I are on Weight Watchers for Week 2. Let me tell you - the first few days on Weight Watchers is pure TORTURE!!! But, I do have to admit that it gets easier every day. And I think Al and I are really learning how to eat healthy for a change. I haven't had a single piece of chocolate in almost 2 weeks and I'm drinking water like it's going out of style. I do have an occasional diet Dr. Pepper to give myself a boost of caffeine. AAAANNNNDDD when Al and I did our weekly weigh in on Monday, Al had lost EIGHT pounds (go Al!!!) and I had lost THREE. :( Ok, so I'm jealous my hubby lost more but I am very, very proud of him. If I can be consistent with three pounds a week, I'm happy with that and I just might make my target of losing 35 pounds. Wish us lots of luck!

In other news.....Cooper is addicted to Olivia's Dora 4-wheeler. He loves to ride around on that thing! Nana said Olivia was driving it around at top speed w/Cooper hanging on laughing his little heart out. I wish Poppy had taken a picture because the image in my head is too cute! Oh well!

Oh, and no news yet if Olivia got into Emmanuel.....

The interview Part 2

Olivia had her interview for Emmanuel this morning and she did pretty well. I was proud of my Baby Girl. She said her ABC's, counted to 10, talked about her brother, named all of her colors and shapes CORRECTLY. What can I say? I have a genius on my hands - ha ha! I would like for Olivia to get into their pre-school program, but I'm not stressing if she doesn't. There's always Thomas Hart to send her.

The weekend was perfect! My kids got to play outside and they loved it. Cooper learned how to drive Sissy's Dora 4-wheeler. He is the funniest thing to watch on that thing. He has to stand up to hit the gas and then it almost throws him off. But he loves it. I definitely think Al and I need to get him something like that for his birthday this year. Oh, speaking of birthdays, I think I may have found a place that sells Spongebob candles and Ariel stuff. So maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to make Olivia's cake after all!

Thursday, March 08, 2007

18 months already

Can you believe Cooper is 18 months old already? Gosh, he's going to be TWO before I know it. *sniffle* We had his check up yesterday and he is 31 inches tall and 23 pounds. He's my little runt - STILL. Ha! But the doctor was concerned about his weight; she said as long as he was eating and was active, he was a perfect little boy. Which I already knew!
So, now my dilemma is what kind of cake to do for Ms. Olivia's birthday. She is insisting on having a pink cake, so I guess I will make a sheet cake and decorate it. However, she wants like 20 different characters on the cake, so I'm not sure what I will do. *sigh* Her interview for school is rescheduled for Monday morning so we'll see how things go with that. I'm keeping my options open for Thomas Hart or possibly leaving her in daycare for another year. We'll see though.
Oh, and I like to call the 2nd picture, "Monkey See, Monkey Do" - ha ha!

Monday, March 05, 2007

The interview Part 1

Well, I got a call today from Jennifer at Emmanuel. We (Al, Olivia, and myself) have our interview at Emmanuel on Wednesday at 12:30pm. AAARRRGGGHHH!!! I knew they said March, I just didn't realize they meant so early in March. I am so nervous that Olivia is going to act wild and NOT listen to me or her Daddy and these people will say, "you know what, here's your application fee back, we don't want her!" She's definitely smart enough to be there, I'm just not sure about her behavior! Ha!

So, has it really been almost a week since I last posted? Geez, I'm slack! Cooper has his 18 month check up on Wednesday as well and I'm anxious to see how much weight he's gained. He's so tiny to me, I may even talk to the doctor about what I can do to fatten him up. The kid eats like a horse so why is he so small? I'm just worried I'm not feeding my kid enough or something.

I'll keep ya'll posted on how the interview goes. Wish us luck that Olivia is on her best behavior!

Talk Time

No one can embarrass me like my children. They are extremely talented in the art of making Mommy turn bright RED. Especially the first born! Last night at dance class, a woman was sitting there with her two kids. Granted, they were a mixed family (the mom was white and the kids were mixed) but I didn't think anything of it since Olivia sees this lady almost every Monday. Well......the lady had her son with her which she usually doesn't, so Olivia marches her little self up to her and asks....*insert drum roll*

O: Why is your son dark and you white?

I could have died! I totally didn't know how to handle the situation. The lady just acted like she didn't hear her (thank goodness!) and I snatched Olivia away and told her to behave. After dance class, I had a long discussion with Olivia about how some families are different and that's OK, blah, blah, blah. I know she was just curious and she's totally innocent, and all , but it really embarrassed me to death!

Do they favor?

So, the 1st pic is Olivia at around 4 or 5 months old (I think). I can't believe she's almost 4 years old!!!! The second pic is Cooper at 4 months old. My little man is 18 months old already. *sniffle* It's hard to see his face in his picture, but they did kind of favor at that age.

Getting Prepared for the 4th

Olivia knows she's going to be 4 on her birthday in April. And she already has requests! They include (in no particular order):

1. her party be at Chuck E. Cheese

2. Chuck E. Cheese himself must make an appearance at her party

3. she wants a guitar and a ukulele (because Rooney has one and he's a Doodlebop and although he's blue and she HATES blue, she likes him)

4. a pink cake that play music (WHAT?) and has Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Prince Eric (Ariel's man), and Max (Prince Eric's DOG) on it. OOOKKKKK.....like that's sssooo easy for Mommy to come up with OLIVIA!!!!

*sigh* I think that's it for the requests at the moment but I'm sure she'll come up with some new ones soon.

Oh, and Cooper has learned the word "MINE" - he says it all the time now. He'll grab something, cling it to his little body and scream "Mine, mine, mine" - I wonder which little thief at daycare taught him that? Little monsters! :)

"I swear!"

Olivia is picking up on WAY TOO MUCH!!!! We were over at my MIL's house over the weekend and my niece was there, along with my other SIL and my 3 month old nephew. Well, Loren was being a little mean to Cooper (what's new?) so Olivia turned to her and said (and I quote)....
Olivia: I swear Loren, if you don't start behaving, I'm going to go tell your Daddy and you're going to get a spanking worst that I've ever had!
Amy and I thought we would die laughing! It was too funny and Olivia was just as serious as can be. She found no humor in it whatsoever. Ha ha! Then later, the three of them were having a tea party and Loren was screaming and Olivia looked at her and said, "Loren, you don't have to yell, just talk to me." This kid definitely listens to her mommy! :)

And yes, Cooper was part of the tea party. Olivia and Loren were "pretending" to drink and eat their cookies, but Cooper really was! He's like his mommy, wherever there is free food - he's there! Ha ha!

Three Amigos :)

Yeah, this pic is a few months old but both my kids look pretty much the same. I'm not sure why NEITHER of them are smiling but whatever.....it's a good pic. Poor Al never gets his picture taken with the family. :)

Monkey See, Monkey Do

A strange occurrence has started in the Griggs household. If Cooper takes his clothes off and walks around in his diaper, Olivia must take all her clothes off and walk around in her panties. If Olivia gets something to drink, Cooper has to have something to drink. If one of them is doing something, eating, taking a bath, you name it - the other has to do it too. They are literally about to drive me and Al crazy. BUT I have figured out that if we buy them or give them the EXACT same thing, that leads to less fights. And trust me, they fight a lot. You would think since Cooper is only 17 months old that he would be a total push over, but my little man can hold his own! Ha ha!

I guess we're in the "copy cat" phase right now. Sometimes it's really cute - like when Cooper gets in my lap and Olivia sees him and jumps in my lap too. Makes me feel loved. But then there are times when it can drive you absolutely INSANE. Ah, the joys of having two kids!

Happy V-Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

Olivia woke up in a very, very, very bad mood! First, she didn't want to get dressed. She wanted to wear her pjs to school - why? I don't know....I guess it's just one of those "Olivia" moments. She was full of those this morning! When I finally coaxed her into getting dressed, I gave her the card and candy her Daddy and I got her. She didn't like it - actually told me I could throw it away. CAN YOU BELIEVE HER NERVE?? I don't know why she was so crabby, but I was one glad mama to drop her off at daycare. I hope her attitude improved when she got there or those ladies are in for some trouble today. My daughter is not a morning person at all! Ha ha! Thank goodness Cooper wakes up smiling. *He* liked his card and candy....he's like his mama, he's not picky at all! :)

Thanks to all the chaos Olivia caused, I totally forgot to brush my teeth this morning. I feel nasty.

Credit Queen

As a parent I feel you should give your child freedom - freedom to play until bed time (and drive your spouse crazy).....freedom to watch Spongebob over and over and over and over (until you drive yourself crazy)....freedom to eat a hot dog weeny every night for supper for a month (but you better not let the ketchup and mustard touch on the plate or then it's "icky" and "yucky" and you have to start aaaaallllll over because the ketchup doesn't like the mustard and the mustard is jealous of the ketchup because he's red - ARGH!!!!) and freedom to have their own money. Or credit cards - especially credit cards.

Ok, so I'm lying. *gasp* About the money at least - the other things are totally true. My kids are strange....very strange. Anywho, Olivia found a plastic Spongebob card in her DVD and thinks that it is her very own "Spongebob credit card." AND if you ask her what her credit limit is, she'll tell you it's $700. Ha ha! That probably sounds like a million dollars to her right? She's so funny! She wouldn't even take that "credit card" out of her pocket when she got to daycare. I guess she was scared one of the thieves there would try to steal it and stick her with a big bill!

Cooper feeding and Olivia Chilling

Little Mama

Olivia told me this morning that she was Cooper's Little Mama. And she was serious. She even got mad with ME when I told her not to spank him anymore. Like how dare I???

Bump on the head

OMG, Olivia fell off the back of her bed and hit her head. I was in the living room when I heard a huge THUMP and then her crying. I ran in the kitchen, almost running into her. I didn't even feel the bump until Al said something. She has a HUGE bump on the back of her head now. I swear, I think I could have thrown up. I mean, it was the size of a frigging GOLF ball. UGH!!

Al, of course, thinks I am totally over re-acting but I don't! I've already woke her up once to make sure she was ok and I think I will probably wake her up about 2 more times tonight before I feel comfortable to leave her alone and letting her sleep. Thanks to the Internet, I read that almost all bumps on the head are nothing and that the skull can withstand quite the punch without causing any damage.

Boy is she ever going to have a headache in the morning!

17 months

Cooper will be 17 months old tomorrow. I can't believe how fast my little guy is growing up! He's learning so much (and tons of bad stuff from his big sissy no doubt) that I could just cry. I say that a lot, but I really mean it. I tear up just typing this stuff. I want my babies to be babies forever! Yeah, I know that won't happen but still.....

Anyways, Cooper has now learned to feed himself. He REFUSES to let me or his daddy, or anyone else for that matter, feed him anymore. He does pretty well with it but I just don't want to let go yet! I want, or rather, NEED him to be dependant on me for just a little longer. Olivia grew up in a flash and has been stubborn from day one so it has been so nice to have such an easy baby the second time around. *sigh* He goes back to the doctor in a month and I'm really anxious to see how much weight he has gained. He is finally fitting into 12 month pants (yes you read that right) and 18 month shirts fit him ok. You should see his belly after he eats - he totally looks like a little Ethiopian. No offense to any Ethiopians reading my blog.

Oh, and my daughter is a thief. She *STOLE* Gracie's BCSD sweatshirt from daycare today. I should change her name to Wionna. Ha ha!

Super Olivia

The kids love the movie, "The Incredibles". We have probably watched that stinking movie a hundred times in the last week. No exaggeration there folks.
Anyways, at the beginning of the movie there's a lady that asks "Who wants the pressure of being SUPER all the time?" And just like clock work, Olivia will chime in and in a sweet voice say "ME!!!!" It's so frigging funny!

One year anniversary

Hey - I've been blogging for a year! I started this blog one year ago TODAY. Doesn't seem that long. Man, going back and looking at some of my earlier posts, my kids have GROWN!! And, I think my blogs were funnier back then too. Is funnier a word? I don't know....I think I've lost some of my magic.

Well, in Griggs family news....Cooper did the funniest thing last night. He is fascinated with a broom - LOVES the thing. So, he was in the kitchen playing with the broom when he stopped, looked at me, pointed and said "NO Mama!" It was too funny! For the rest of the night he kept saying "No....No....No" He also learned the word "ball" too. It won't be long before my little man is talking in sentences!

I'll try to have so new pictures posted in a few days. I know you all are going through withdrawls. :)

Cry, Cry, Cry

Oh my gosh, I feel like crying! I called Emmanuel on Friday and they are mailing me a packet for 4K pre-school. Is it that time yet?? I can't believe Olivia is already at the age where it's time for her to start school. I want to cry! I can already tell I'm going to be one of those mothers that boo woo the whole way to work after dropping their kid off at the first day of school!

I am excited that she's going to be going to school though. Al and I have debated over putting her school now or waiting another year but as smart as Olivia is, there's really no reason to hold her back. So, hopefully after I send in the application (it's so frigging formal, it's not funny), we'll hear back about having an interview, and maybe get her in. That would be great! So wish us luck!

One of those parents

It's official! I've turned into one of those parents that actually follow through with their threats! Yesterday after I picked Olivia and Cooper up from daycare, Olivia was in a foul mood. I could tell she was going to be a handful the minute I saw her. So, half way down the road, she throws one of her little "Polly Pocket" dolls at me. I asked her why - no response. Told her she better answer. Still nothing.

So I threatened. I told her if she did not tell me now, that I would pull the car over and spank her tail. She just looked at me. CAN YOU BELIEVE??? I gave her one last warning and it did no good. I had to take action! So, I pulled my car into a vacant lot and I got out and spanked her. She couldn't believe it! Ha ha - Mommy 1 Olivia 100....I'm finally on the board!

Normally I wouldn't dare pull my car over, but lately, Olivia has gotten to where she will not listen to me at all. I had no choice really. Maybe this will keep her on her toes for a little while. We'll see.

Oh, and Cooper was laughing the whole time she and I were going back and forth. My kids are mean!!!!!

Can't think of a clever title

Here are some more pics of the babies! Cooper is smiling as usual and Olivia is striking her "I'm way too cool for you" pose. Aren't they just the meanest *ever*?
Oh, Olivia has informed me that she will be marrying Prince Caleb Rogers (for my loyal blog readers, you know that's the stud at the daycare). She has been watching mine and Al's wedding video here lately and talks about marriage all the time now. AAANNNNNDDDD she wants to wear MY wedding dress. How stinking sweet is that? You have no idea how much that tickled my heart when she said that. I'm going to hold her to that and make her wear it in 30 years! Yes, 30 years! :)

Wish I could edit old posts......

I stand corrected. It's not even 9am on Saturday morning and Cooper fell off Olivia's bed. Dang!

*sigh* I've been up since before 7am....someone tell me why my children wake up before the sun comes up on the weekends but I have to wake them up every morning during the week?????

Already a teenager

Olivia got mad at me this morning. All because I told her she was 3 1/2 years old and not sixteen! Ever since she watched an episode of "Spongebob" where Pearl, Mr. Krabs daughter, is having her 16th birthday, Olivia thinks she's 16 too! (Come to think of it, the fact that I'm talking about a cartoon like I would a regular show is kind of sad! Although Spongebob can be quite funny at times.) Anyways, if Olivia doesn't like an answer you give her, she'll say "I'm sixteen years old, I can do what I want!" OOOOHHHH RRRRRREEEEAAAALLLLYYYYY! Oh, and while she's saying this - she's got her hands on her hips and shaking them back and forth. What a mean little girl! So, how old will she be her birthday? FOUR. Yeap, she's going from 16 to 4 by April. Oh well, I can't expect her to understand math right now anyways.

Cooper, on the other hand, has found a new love for playing on the bed. That's all the stinker wants to do these days. And luckily, he hasn't fallen off yet. :)

I hate resolutions

I think this diet is going to kill me! I've only been on it for 10 days and I already feel much more irriatable than normal. I have not had a piece of chocolate in forever it seems. I know, I know....it actually hasn't been that long but geez! And how much water do I have to drink.....ugh. I miss my Pepsi. I think I must be going through some major detox. Ha ha!

Anyways, sorry to talk about *myself* - ha ha! Those little thieves at daycare are becoming a bad influence on Cooper. He is now trying to bite whenever he has the chance. I had to pop him on the diaper the other night to make him stop. He cried big ole tears like I had beat him. It totally hurt my heart! He's got to learn though.....biting is bad! I bet it's that big headed baby teaching him all that bad stuff. :)

For real?

Ok, so when Al and I picked up Cooper from daycare, I saw something that really shocked me! Cooper was standing beside a little boy that is only TWO months older than him and that kid TOWERED over him! It was really shocking! Now, granted, that kid is pretty big for his age but now I'm worried that my little fella is a midget!

For real?

Nah, I know he's *not* a midget, but Cooper is definitely small for his age. His 12 months pants are just beginning to fit and he's hello.....almost 17 months old. *sigh* There goes a football scholarship down the drain (go OHIO STATE!). Guess we could always look into helping him become a jockey or something. It was just so strange to see them side by side. Of course, that kid has a HUGE head and my baby is perfect. :) So ha ha on him.

Oh, and Cooper has learned a new word - ni ni which means night night. How stinking cute is that?

There isn't much going on other than that. Olivia is still 16 years old and can still do whatever she wants. But we're still best friends so I can't complain. :)

2007 is finally here

I can't believe it's already 2007. I can still remember sitting in 3rd grade and my teacher, Mrs. Ferguson (I even remember her) asking us to figure out how old we would be in the year 2000. 23 years old! I also remember thinking "wow, that's SO FAR from now!" *sigh* Here we are and it's 2007, I'm married and I have the two meanest little monsters in SC! :) I feel like such a grown up.....especially since I will turn 30 in November. That's a really grown up number isn't it?

So, as far as New Year resolutions go - I do plan on sticking to a diet and exercising. I'm even going to do my best to get Al on the bandwagon. I really would like to lose 30 to 50 pounds this year and keep it off. Having babies the last few years has just kept the weight on me and I don't like it. Wish me luck!

New Years Eve

Happy New Year!!!!!

I sure hope I can stay up until midnight to watch the ball drop but I don't have high expectations! :) I know for a fact that my children will be fast asleep!!!

As we came home from a fish fry with Jay, Amy, and baby Louis, Olivia saw our neighbors shooting off some fireworks.
O: I want to do that!
Al: I don't know baby, you're still too little for that.
O: I wanna watch them Daddy! *high pitch squeal that probably made my ear bleed a little*
Al: Ok, just for a minute. Next year when you and Cooper are older, we'll shoot fireworks.
O: I can do it now Daddy, I'm SIXTEEN years old! I'm old enough.

WHATEVER!!!! Where does my kid come up with this stuff! She is just too much sometimes! I think I heard our neighbor Lisa laugh out loud when she heard what Olivia said!

I'm still a dork!!!

I'm glad Olivia can't read and doesn't have access to this blog! I found two presents that Santa was supposed to bring her under my desk at work! I knew that I had a few more things for her, but I couldn't remember what they were.......well....I just happened to drop something under my desk and when I looked down - there the hopscotch pad and cd/radio/telephone thingie were. I'm such a DORK! I put everything in my car like a week before Christmas, even did a check my last day of work and still missed them. Duh Mandy.
At least Olivia's birthday is in April and I can hang on to this stuff until then. It's not like she was lacking in the present department at Christmas or anything! I just can't believe I forgot!

I'm such a dork

Ok, for future reference, I'm a total dork! I hardly ever, I mean EVER, get phone calls on my cell phone. Al and my mom are probably the only *two* people that ever call it. So today, I get a phone call and it's an 800 number. Strange....even stranger (is that a word?) - it was an Indian (red dot, not woo woo woo) lady asking about my cell phone. I told her to call Al since he was the primary....wanna know why she called? Apparently I paid another bill twice last month instead of paying Cingular! OOPS! Like I said before, I'm a dork. I better get my stack of bills off the counter tonight and make sure I have everything set up to be paid - PROPERLY. Ha ha!

In non-related Mandy is a dork news.......Olivia was upset that we didn't have snow for Christmas. Al tried to explain to her that it doesn't snow in South Carolina that often but as she pointed out "in all the movies it snows for Christmas!" - Yes, yes it does. But none of them are based in SC! Ha ha! I told her maybe next year Santa will bring her some snow. (I really don't mean it, I could care less for the stuff, but still, she's only 3 1/2!). Oh, and Cooper has an ear infection and is under the weather. Poor baby, you can look at him and tell he doesn't feel well. And I took Olivia back to see the doctor about her finger and it's still infected. Now Al and I have the wonderful and easy job of trying to push the pus pocket up to get the infection out. Sounds easy right? WRONG! I had to practically lay on top of Olivia this morning so Dr Bonnie could dig around in it. Not fun. I am not looking forward to my daily wrestling matches with Ms. Griggs! I think she'll probably win. Why is it that little kids are freakishly strong?

I guess it's better than losing a finger huh?

Daddy Daycare

Al is off today and the daycare is closed....so guess who is playing Daddy Daycare??? Ha! I've called Al a few times today and he has sounded totally stressed. :) Poor Al! I bet he is really looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. Ha ha! I hope when I get home today, I don't find my house in a total mess, but I'm not holding my breath. I have a really bad feeling about what *the boy* and *the firstborn* have done. It's really quite scary to be honest. :)

In other news, Nana and Poppy left today to go to Atlanta to see Martin and his new place. They are really excited so I hope they have a good trip. And I hope they can stay away from Olivia and Cooper that long! Nana tried her hardest to get me to let Olivia go, but I said NO! I'm sure Martin and Randy wouldn't want a wild 3 1/2 year old running around the new house. And plus, if you take one, you HAVE to take the other....they come in a pair these days. :)

Christmas is over and I'm so happy! Now it's the countdown for the New Year's.....I wonder if Olivia would be into fireworks? Hmmm.....

Monday, December 25, 2006

Ho Ho Ho!!!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!!

Can you believe my kids are already in the bed fast asleep? They had such a busy day! Santa was so good to them this year. I can't even count all the Ariel stuff Olivia got and Cooper must have gotten a zillion toy trucks and cars. I will probably have boxes coming out the wazhoo for awhile. Fun, fun.

So anyways, I hope all of you out there had a wonderful Christmas!!!!

Thursday, December 21, 2006

Just in case......

I don't get a chance to post anymore until next week Merry Christmas!!!!!

Santa is going to be at the daycare tomorrow and I sure hope they don't traumatize my son! He DID NOT like Santa the first time, so I'm not sure how he's going to take to him tomorrow. Olivia will do fine, as usual, but I am worried about my fella. Even with his big Sissy by his side, he was scared! I can only imagine how *well* that picture will turn out.

Olivia's finger is still red and puffy but starting to look better. If I could just teach her not to bite her nails, I will probably never have to worry about this sort of thing happening again. 10 days of antibiotic is a lot though! At least it's bubble gum flavored! Which with Olivia, I never have a problem with her taking medicine.....I wonder if that is any implication of a future problem? HHHMMMM.....

Oh, and why when I ask Olivia to behave, and she tells me "Yes Mommy, I will" does she immediately do the OPPOSITE when we get in sight of other people? Does she honestly forget that fast or is she that mean? And why has my son suddenly became Super Clingy Baby and can't walk or put pressure on his legs?

Can you tell I'm stressing? I need a beer, simple as that!!!!!

Photo Time!

I took some random pictures of the kids by the tree the other day and they actually came out pretty cute! I don't have the ones developed that I took of them all dolled up after church, so hopefully I'll have some of those to share too. I tried my hardest to pose them for those, so we'll see how they come out!
I thought the one of Cooper reaching for the tree was cute - I had to throw his pacifier in there to get the look of him touching the tree. It was hard because he is FAST....little stinker! And I didn't realize that he had so much junk on his face when I was taking these! Ha ha! Oh well, at least you know I feed him right? :)
Oh, and I'm wearing a crown because I'm Queen Mommy, and Olivia is Princess Daughter. :)~

Expensive

I had to take Olivia to the doctor this morning - her index finger that she burned a few months back is infected again. YUCK! Thankfully, it's nothing a little medicine can't cure!

Olivia is so funny though. I know I say this all the time, but it's so true! The other day her Daddy threatened to spank her. She turned around and said "You can't spank my butt because I have an expensive butt!" - How funny! But yet so true...she is an expensive little thing. I sure hope she marries a man that makes a lot of money. :) Man, is he going to be in trouble one day! Ha ha!

Cooper looks so grown with his hair all trimmed and neat. I do miss his curls though. *sigh* He actually looks like a little toddler now and not my baby boy. *sniffle* I hate haircuts! Oh well, I know I had to eventually get it trimmed....

Only six more sleeps until Christmas morning!!!! I can't wait! The countdown is ON!!!

Saturday, December 16, 2006

First Haircut

Cooper had his first hair cut today!!!

As you can tell by the picture, his hair was getting quite long. I wish I could say he took it like a champ, but he made a total liar out of me. He screamed, cried, and all but jumped out of his Daddy's arms. I have no idea how the lady was able to cut his hair at all! But now he has a new hair do and looks super cute. I just couldn't put it off any longer - some lady asked me how old "my little daughter" was so I knew it was time!

In other news.....Olivia spent the day with Nana and Poppy and they took her to Chuck E Cheese. Actually, they spent 2 1/2 hours there! I think Olivia must have played every game 15 times! She wanted to spend the night with them, but Nana begged me to tell her no. So I did. :) I really did miss her aggravating me all day. *sigh* I am such a softie.......

Funny, funny girl

My daughter is so funny! Well, let me tell you the story.....

On the way home from daycare last night, Cooper was just talking away. I looked back and jokingly said "Cooper, what you talking about?" WWWEEEELLLLL.....Olivia busts out and says, "Mommy, Cooper says he wants to go play in the road." "Oh, he does does he?" "Yeap, he SURE does Mommy!" That is hilarious! And then, later that night, when they were in the tub he was doing the same thing and Olivia said "Mommy, Cooper wants me to put soap in his eyes!" I asked her if she was sure that was what he was saying and she told me "yes, he wants soap in his eyes." Of course, I didn't let her, but it's funny to me that everything she says he "says" he wants to do, usually involves him getting hurt.

Is my daughter trying to kill "the boy" or what? Oh, and if that wasn't bad enough, she decided to still a sucker from the grocery store the other night. I *saw* her reach for them at the check out line and I told her NO - but she still somehow managed to sneak by me, her daddy, and the cashier. I could have died when I saw her with that sucker when we got home. UGH - she's going to get me arrested before it's all over with!

Monday, December 11, 2006

Hates him!!!

SSSOOOO.....Al and I took the kids to see Santa on Saturday and as usual, Olivia loved him and warmed right up to him. Cooper, on the other hand, screamed bloody murder and couldn't get off his lap fast enough. I guess I should have known, I knew it was too good to be true to have both kids NOT scared of Santa. I do admit that he got it honest.....I wasn't (and still aren't) a big fan of Santa, or any person in costume for that matter. Like Mother, Like Son!!!

It's official!!! I am done with my Christmas shopping!!! I am so glad - I don't plan on going back into the crowds until AFTER the holidays. Now I can relax and enjoy the little bit of time before Al and I have to pull an all nighter putting toys together, etc. Olivia wants to leave Santa some milk and cookies so I guess we'll do that on Christmas Eve. I sure hope we can sneak past her bedroom door on Christmas Eve when we're playing Santa! Wouldn't it be my luck that she wakes up?

Oh, and for the record - Olivia *hates* blue, but not light blue. Light blue is ok with her. And she loves going to church, parties, and eating cake. I just though you all should know. :)

Thursday, December 07, 2006

Color Blue - BLAH!!!

Olivia HATES the color blue. I don't know why and I don't know what has made her feel this way. I have all ideas that it has something to do with those thieves at daycare. I can't prove it, just a gut feeling. Ha ha! She refuses to wear blue shirts (although she will wear her Aqua Dora shirt because it's Aqua, not blue - see the difference?), and does not want anything to do with the color blue. There's a house down the road from us that has blue icicle lights and everytime we pass it, she'll say "Mommy, I hate those lights. If I could, I would pull those lights down!" How funny is that!

Her favorite color (unfortunately) is pink. She loves it - just about all of her clothes are pink or some shade similar to pink. There's no denying she's all girl. :)

15 month check up

Cooper had his 15 month check up today. Has it seriously been that long already?? He weighs in at a whopping 21 lbs and is 30 inches long. Dr. T said he was right on target and perfect. Of course, I could have told him that myself. :) He did get three shots today but took them like a champ. I am so proud of my little man!
So someone tell me when December snuck up on me? Geez, I can't believe Christmas will be here in 2 1/2 weeks. I guess I better get on the ball and finish up my shopping. Santa is going to be very good to my little monsters so I can't wait to see their faces on Christmas morning! And Olivia is at the perfect age now where she really "gets" it. She loves to go look at Christmas lights and watch the shows on TV. It's really starting to get fun!
Now, if I could just teach her to behave.......

Olivia, Olivia, Olivia

Someone please tell me why my daughter is still awake at 9pm?? Every time I think she's asleep I hear "Mommy, I need to go tee tee!" It never fails....at bed time, Olivia suddenly CARES about brushing her teeth, is dying of thirst, and suddenly loves to give kisses and hugs. But let me tell you - all you have to do is say Santa is going to give her Fairy Princess Dora to some other kid and she'll mind in a heartbeat.

I wonder how long this new trick of mine will last???
